In February 1822 he moved with his family to Scott County, Virginia.
From Scott County he moved with his family to Estill County, Kentucky in the summer of 1824.

At this time his wife was dead and only his youngest son a child of 17, was living with him.
PROOF OF BIRTH DATE AND MARRIAGE:
Zachariah Phillips, of Estill County, Kentucky, made oath on October 5th 1838 that:
He was born in 1763 and first became acquainted with Israel Meadows
aforesaid about 50 years ago in Greenbrier County, Virginia.
That he and wife Barbara Meadows were then married.
That when he first became acquainted with them, they had several children.
That he married their daughter, Nanny who fifty years ago was only 8 or 10 years of age

On the same page was listed a Sarah Phillips who was the age of 50-60 with a 20-30 year old son.
This Sarah may be Zacks mother.
It is suggested that Gray Phillips, Sr.had lots more brothers and sisters than were listed when they came to Louisiana.
In 1848 the family came to Louisiana probably with the John Bryant family and settled next door
to each other in Indian Villiage in Jackson Parish.
1850 Jackson Parish, La. Census:

William - age: 14 - b. Alabama
Zach - age: 12 - b. Alabama

As this census clearly shows, the family was indeed in Louisiana before 1855 and that Frances Partin Phillips
came to Louisiana with her family.

The John Bryant family was either already at Indian Village or came as a party with the Phillips family.
Joe Bryant of the John Bryant family, married the sister of Frances Lillie "Partin" Phillips.
By 1860 the family was still pretty much together.

possibly the battle of Antietam.
This letter was once in the possession of Ivy and Pallie Phillips.

KENTUCKY PENSION ROLL OF 1835
REPORT FROM
THE SECRETARY OF WAR
IN RELATION TO THE PENSION ESTABLISMENT
OF THE UNITED STATES
1835
He applied for his pension in 1830at the age of 71 and was granted.
It started May 29, 1830 for the annual allowance of $96.00.
The amount he received was $361.83.
The pension application reflected that on the 18th March 1818, he was living in Monroe County, Virginia.
In February 1822 he moved with his family to Scott County, Virginia.
From Scott County he moved with his family to Estill County, Kentucky in the summer of 1824.
He has continued to reside there as of May 1830.
That he married their daughter, Nanny who fifty years ago was only 8 or 10 years of age
and from what he has always understood from his wife, she would, if living, be 60 years of age next spring.
He thinks the place of marriage of Barbara and Israel Meadows is what at the time was known as Botetourt, County, Virginia.
CENSUS:
1840 - Greenbrier County, Virginia listed:
Meadows - pg. 224
Phillips - pg. 208

2. Zachariah Phillips Jr. Born 27 Apr 1795 in Kentucky. Buried in Probably Alabama.
1840 CENSUS OF AUTAUGA CO ALABAMA:
On page 33 of the census Zach Phillips was listed as being 40-50 years old and his wife being 30-40.
Eight children also were listed, 4 boys and 4 girls.
Boys ages were:
2 - sons under the age of five.
1 - son, 5-10 years of age.
1 - son, 10-15 years of age.
Girls ages were:
3 - daughters under the age of five.
1- daughter, 5-10 years of age.
Census:
Family # 509 Phillips: Frances - age: 46 - b. NorthCarolina.
Joseph - age: 19 - b. Alabama
Thomas - age: 15 - b. Alabama
William - age: 14 - b. Alabama
Zach - age: 12 - b. Alabama
Gray P. - age: 10 - b. Alabama
Jemima - age: 6 - b. Alabama
As this census clearly shows, the family was indeed in Louisiana before 1855 and that Frances Partin Phillips
came to Louisiana with her family.
Notes by Phillips Family:
Gray Partin Phillips, Sr.{Son of Zachariah and Fraces Lillie "Partin" Phillips}
arrived in Indian Village on Christmas Eve in 1855 from Georgia or Alabama.
Gray Partin,Sr. hunted and killed three deer that night, he was 10 years old.
Indian Village: 4 townships - 4 miles square.
The John Bryant family was either already at Indian Village or came as a party with the Phillips family.
Joe Bryant of the John Bryant family, married the sister of Frances Lillie "Partin" Phillips.
By 1860 the family was still pretty much together.
1860 Jackson Parish, La. Census:

War Notes:
A letter to Frances Phillips from an officer indicated, William a Confederate was mortally wounded in the Civil War,
possibly the battle of Antietam.
This letter was once in the possession of Ivy and Pallie Phillips.
I have a copy of a letter from a known Civil War nurse stating the illness and the death of a Phillips soldier.
Here is the letter translated as best as could be read.
Sept 2 ? Dear Madman_ I atained this letter until today because your boy ?David? so ill that I feared he could not live_
& today he breathed his last_ He was unconscious all day_ this mourning I tried to induce him to take a little tea_ but he
